Waterloo East - Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario neighbourhoods and nearby communities


These communities lie east of the Conestoga Parkway, and west of the Grand River. Eastbridge, east of Bridge St, has over 500 completed homes, and has landscaped ponds with gazebos, walking trails and parks. The houses here are subject tol architectural controls. Colonial Acres, adjoining Conestoga Mall, has large, spacious lots for a country feel. South of Lexington Rd are the communities of Lincoln Village and Lexington. Kiwanis Park is a new development around the park itself (with walking trails alongside the Grand River) has beautiful upscale executive homes.


The community is served by 25 elementary schools, 4 high schools, and 2 public libraries. Post-secondary education is available at the University of Waterloo, Wilfred Laurier University, and nearby University of Guelph, and Conestoga College, which has a Kitchener campus.


Waterloo is well served by 3 significant shopping malls and plazas, and has a number of vibrant retail areas including Uptown Waterloo, and the St Jacobs Farmers Market just to the north.


Waterloo Buskers Festival Waterloo has 3 performance theatres, 1 cinema screens, a museum, and two public galleries, For athletes, there are 60 baseball diamonds, 20 public tennis courts, 1 indoor and 1 outdoor swimming pools, 3 public and 1 private golf courses. Waterloo has Laurel Creek Conservation Area and Reservoir to the west, though Centennial/Waterloo Park is the city's recreational and festival centre. There is the Chicopee Ski Hill nearby on the city's SE corner


Waterloo is mature and has a range of homes, both new & resale. Prices for single family detached run $270,000 (2006 prices), semi-detached residential are $165,000, townhouses/row houses $185,000, and condominium units are averaging $150,000.
